Bizia : Ancients built their societies around the fire. MAKIL and LANTZ navarrian dances represents clearly this organisation around this element, symbol of protection and survival.

The society is now organizing itself around the leader who, thanks to the fight, took over peoples. Old dances from BIZKAIA are the remaining testimony of what should have happened.


Then, in mixed BRALEA, various people are joining behind the new leader, along with, XARNEG and MAYA, the last one representing the old pyrenean matriarchal setup.

As well as the fire or the leader, links with our culture are of the upmost for social unity. We show you 3 traditionnal dances from our villages:




SECOND PART

Folklore : In a recent time, folklkore was created for traditionnal dance to be performed on the stage. Garaztarrak brings out again 3 of those dances (look at your old postcards...):

Revivalisme : Along with folklore, it was thought in the seventies. Traditionnal dances are not only performed on stages, but in streets, places... A blink to the Bayonne's feasts!!!

And now : Through its own OGM RAP, Garaztarrak is shaking this recent past, freeing itself from imposed rules. This way of expression coming from the need of rebellion, means we need a space for creativity. FANDANGO and ARIN ARIN are old dances reshaped.
